Acne prevention is the best way to deal with your skin problem. Your goal is to prevent the acne from appearing in the first place. Of course, there are methods and skin products to deal with acne after it has already appeared. But, why not get to the root of the problem and eliminate your acne for good?

Stay Away From Coffee

Have you considered that your acne is caused by an increase in coffee intake. I spend a lot of time on a college campus and have noticed the young people these days are consuming a lot of coffee. Perhaps your first step to acne prevention is to cut down on coffee or stop drinking it all together.

I haven’t been in a high school lately. I do know that I never drank coffee in high school. If you are drinking a lot of coffee and suffer from acne, try quitting for a couple weeks and see what happens to  your skin.

Modify Your Diet

I did have serious acne in high school. Now I know what caused it. I ate pizza for lunch everyday. I wish I knew then that this was likely contributing to my serious acne problem.

Look over a list of foods that have been found to cause acne and see if they are a regular part of your diet. I couple items you should consider cutting out of your diet right now are pizza and soft drinks, both diet and regular.

Anything with sugar in it can make your acne worse. Get used to reading food labels an avoid anything with sugar, fructose or corn syrup in it. For example, many of the 100% fruit juices on the market add sugar or corn syrup. Stay away from these.

Try Herbal Remedies

Herbal remedies have been found to be effective at preventing acne. These are not applied to the skin, but rather drunken as a hot tea. You might also want to increase your consumption of green tea.

One herbal remedy for acne is fig wort. Purchase fig wort at your local health food store. Look for a fig wort tea product. If one doesn’t exist just buy the raw herb and ask the store clerk what quantity to use to make the tea.

Stop looking at acne as something to be treated. This forces you to look for creams and medications to ‘treat’ your skin problem. Instead, develop a mindset of acne prevention. Stop your acne before it starts.
